Approach diversity

get started together with your organization

Do you want to work with diversity because your workforce no longer matches the customers or do you want to increase your target group outside your trusted customer base? Or maybe both. But don't you know how?

Schaap en Wolf developed the Diversity Approach together with City Safari for organizations that want to work with diversity from within the organization. This approach makes differences negotiable and concrete within your team or organization.

Do you recognize this?

Imagine..

After four sessions you have a concrete basis for a diversity policy that is widely supported by the organization. Then you can really get started within and with your organization.

"The team is inspired and is eager to get started."

Theater Walhalla did the approach with the entire team. “The open conversations about diversity and the encounters with unknown Rotterdammers from all kinds of different backgrounds have stirred up a lot within the team. This also includes confrontations with ourselves. For example, about the way in which we treat each other. ” - Rachel van Olm, theater director.

The summary

inleiding aanpak diversiteit

Part 1: introduction and exploration

The first part starts with an introduction. We then jointly formulate the answer to the question why diversity is so important to the organization. Then we will work on selected themes such as cultural differences in the workplace, recruitment of personnel, marketing, etc. We formulate an answer to the issue at hand.

part 2: meeting the other

The City Safari is the second part of the approach. The participants visit people in small groups at their homes, in their tea house, temple, workshop or studio. Each group has three visits with people who, in terms of disability, background, lifestyle or culture, match the issue of the organization. They can ask for anything. There are no taboos as long as there is respect. They are guided by their curiosity.

Part 3: getting started with diversity

In the third part, we work with the experiences obtained during the City Safari to create an action plan that has enough tools to get started right away. We look at the theme with new eyes. We then talk to experts who know how to overcome barriers when it comes to a disability, a different culture or way of life.

part 4: plan of action

The result should not only be a practical guide for a manager or department, but above all an insight supported by the organization into how they deal with diversity in the future.

we do it together

The approach focuses on the discussion about diversity within and with the organization. Inspiring personal encounters with people from diverse cultural backgrounds are an important part of this. This approach was developed by City Safari in collaboration with Schaap en Wolf.

With City Safari, Marjolijn Masselink has been organizing personal encounters with the unknown other for more than 20 years in order to reduce the distance between groups in society and to remove prejudices. Many ministries, municipalities, companies and organizations successfully went on City Safari. Winfred van den Bor coaches, under the name Schaap en Wolf, entrepreneurs, managers and teams, who want to perform better.
